Cheeseburger in Paradise

Well, over a week ago now, we finally left town and took a little trip south to Panama City. Rainy weather almost stole our weekend, but Saturday afternoon the skies cleared up, and we were able to take out the wave runner for the first time since ... gosh, ... the summer of 2003. Started right up though. Dale also showed me around his old stomping ground ... and we visited another new Hooter's location--old for him but new for us. He even remembered his way downtown to Bayou Joe's, and so we enjoyed a cheeseburger in paradise, if you will, right beside the water on Sunday afternoon. Anyone can dock their boat at this restaurant and enjoy a meal--what a cool place!

This past weekend, we worked hard around the yard. I'll have to share some photos of our little outdoor project, once we're all done. The heat definitely makes working outside interesting.

That's all for tonight. Renae out ...

Change ...

I decided to try a little change for the blog -- add some photos. So tonight, I finally figured out how to use Blogger to do this, a bit of a workaround albeit, but hey, it works. So here's a little sarcasm to start things off. One of the original Successories (once extremely popular) products goes like this: "Change ... without change there can be no breakthroughs ... without breakthroughs there can be no future." So true, right? Well, I still own this one that I bought in Denver back in 1999 -- it's traveled many miles with me and through all the change that has occurred in my life. The one above, on the other hand, of course is mocking some of the changes taking place at USAFA. For those non-military types, backpacks used to be allowed to be worn over the left shoulder only. No big deal, right? In the grand scheme of things -- maybe so, maybe not. No need to opine here though; I just wanted to share.

The WR

So the town doesn’t come close to resembling the OC, but hey, it is the WR, and we’re finally here. Yes, just like the 1976 Barry Manilow tune goes, “looks like we made it.” Dale enjoyed singing this one when we rolled into town after a full 2.5 days of driving. (He always makes the most of every opportunity to educate me on the more refined music of the 1970s.)

Anyway, so I’m taking a few minutes tonight to finally make a post. Unfortunately, just like every other night since we’ve arrived, we're both exhausted. Been working hard and finally, we feel like we’re getting settled … as in the boxes are mostly gone (organizing of course seems to be the never-ending project), learning our jobs, and most importantly, establishing our routines. Almost used to the heat and humidity, although exercising in it still wipes me out (could’ve fallen asleep waiting at the stop light on the way home from work today – phew). It’s all about the morning workout now.

Time to lounge on the couch and catch the rest the Yankee game. Unfortunately, the boys are going to lose tonight.
